About this coffee
This coffee comes from the Surya Abada Kayumas Cooperative, made up of family-owned farms from the neighbouring villages of Curah Tatal and Kayumas in Situbondo, East Java. Each member farms around 2 hectares, with the cooperative collectively covering close to 400 hectares on the volcanic slopes of the Ijen Plateau.
The co-op operates three centralised collection and processing centres, allowing farmers to deliver cherry quickly and maintain quality. Members also produce their own organic fertiliser from cattle, goats, and poultry, pooling resources to strengthen both farming practices and yields.
Traditionally known for Giling Basah (wet-hulled) coffees, the cooperative has recently expanded into anaerobic naturals and anaerobic wet-hulled processes, bringing new depth and character to classic Indonesian profiles.
