About this coffee
Launched in 2012 in Burundi in East Africa by Angele Ciza, a coffee entrepreneur who purchased a number of washing stations working in partnership with growers as a means to begin processing some of the best coffees in Burundi.
This lot comes from the Butihinda Washing Station using water sourced from Rushombo Mountain and manages processing for approximately 1400 smallholder coffee producers.
With an emphasis on education and outreach including training, environmental protection, micro-finance and a scholarship program to pay for school fees for young girls, Ciza emphasizes her philosophy when she says, "When you develop the women in coffee, you develop Burundi".
